This Privacy Policy explains how Pulse ("Pulse," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, our marketing automation platform, and related services (collectively, the "Service").
Pulse provides Email, WhatsApp, and Push notification marketing automation for merchants using Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, and custom websites. This policy applies to:
- Merchants who create a Pulse account to use our platform ("Merchants," "you," "your account")
- End customers of our Merchants, whose contact information and behavioral data may be processed through Pulse on a Merchant's behalf ("Contacts" or "End Customers")
- Visitors to our own marketing website (pulse.[yourdomain])
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information Merchants provide directly
When you create a Pulse account and set up your workspace, we collect:
- Account information: name, email address, password (encrypted), business/workspace name
- Billing information: payment method details (processed by our payment provider; we do not store full card numbers)
- Sender and domain information: sender name, sender email address, sending domain, DNS records
- Connection information: your store's platform (Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, or custom), store URL, and any API keys or access tokens you provide to connect your store
1.2 Information collected from your connected store
Once you connect a store or website, Pulse may sync:
- Product catalog data (product names, prices, images, inventory, variants)
- Order and transaction data (order confirmations, cart contents, purchase history, order value)
- Customer contact records you choose to import or that are captured through your store (email addresses, phone numbers, names)
- Storefront behavioral events (page views, cart additions, checkout starts, and similar events), where you have enabled tracking on your site (e.g., via a web pixel or installed script)
1.3 Information about your End Customers
On your behalf, Pulse may collect and process, for the Contacts in your account:
- Contact details: email address, phone number, name
- Engagement data: whether a message was delivered, opened, clicked, or replied to
- Segment and behavioral data: purchase history, browsing activity, subscription status, and any custom properties you configure
- Communication history across Email, WhatsApp, and Push channels
1.4 Information from website visitors
If you visit our own marketing website, we may collect standard web analytics information such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and referring URLs, typically through cookies (see Section 6).
1.5 Information from third-party integrations
Where you connect Pulse to WhatsApp Business (via Meta), your email sending infrastructure, or other integrations, we receive information from those platforms as necessary to provide the Service (for example, message delivery status, template approval status, and read receipts from WhatsApp Business).
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service (sending campaigns and automations, syncing your catalog, tracking performance)
- Build and update the segments, dashboards, and analytics shown in your Pulse workspace
- Generate the automated insights and AI-suggested recommendations shown in your account (for example, campaign performance suggestions)
- Communicate with you about your account, updates to the Service, and support requests
- Process payments and manage your subscription
- Monitor and improve deliverability (bounce rate, spam complaint rate, and related sending-reputation signals)
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, security issues, and violations of our Terms of Service
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not use Contact data collected on behalf of a Merchant for our own independent marketing purposes, except as necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service itself.
3. How We Share Information
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers. We use third-party providers to deliver parts of the Service, including email delivery infrastructure, WhatsApp Business messaging (via Meta), push notification delivery, cloud hosting, and payment processing. These providers process data only as necessary to perform their function for us and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- With your connected platforms. If you connect Shopify, WooCommerce, WordPress, or a custom site, data flows between Pulse and that platform as needed to keep your catalog, orders, and contacts in sync.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Pulse, our Merchants, or others.
- In a business transfer. If Pulse is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a successor policy.
- With your consent. We may share information for any other purpose disclosed to you at the time you provide the information, or with your consent.
We do not sell personal information.
4. Data Retention
We retain Merchant account information for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward as needed to comply with legal, accounting, or reporting obligations.
Contact data (End Customer information) is retained for as long as it remains part of an active Merchant's workspace, or until the Merchant deletes it, removes a Contact, or closes their account, subject to any legal retention requirements.
If you close your Pulse account, you may export your data before closure; after account closure, we will delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.
5. Data Security
We use technical and organizational measures designed to protect information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction, including encryption of data in transit, encrypted storage of sensitive credentials, and access controls limiting who can view Merchant and Contact data.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Pulse uses cookies and similar technologies (such as a web pixel or tracking script installed on a Merchant's storefront) to:
- Recognize returning visitors
- Track storefront events (page views, cart activity, checkout starts) that power automations and segments
- Measure the performance of popups, campaigns, and automations
- Support essential website functionality on our own marketing site
Merchants who install Pulse's tracking script on their storefront are responsible for disclosing this to their own End Customers through their store's own cookie or privacy notice, as required by applicable law.
You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect certain features of the Service.
7. Your Rights and Choices
For Merchants: You can access, update, export, or delete most of your account information directly within your Pulse workspace settings. You may also contact us to request assistance with any of these actions.
For End Customers: If you are a customer of a business using Pulse and wish to exercise rights over your personal data (such as access, correction, deletion, or opting out of communications), please contact that business directly, as they control the data. Every Email, WhatsApp, and Push message sent through Pulse includes a way to unsubscribe or opt out.
Unsubscribing: Contacts may opt out of Email, WhatsApp, or Push communications at any time using the unsubscribe link or opt-out option included in each message. Opting out of one channel does not automatically opt a Contact out of others, unless the Merchant configures it that way.
Depending on your location, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law (such as the right to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to or restrict certain processing). To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 11.
8. International Data Transfers
Pulse may process and store information in countries other than the one in which you or your End Customers are located. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we take steps to ensure the data is protected in a manner consistent with this Policy and applicable law.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify Merchants through the Service or by email, and update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
