Switching to Pulse from another platform

If you're already using another tool, whether that's Klaviyo, Brevo, Mailchimp, or anything else, moving to Pulse doesn't mean starting from zero.

This guide walks through what that switch actually looks like, step by step.

Why switching feels risky, and why it doesn't have to

The biggest fear with switching platforms is usually the same: what happens to all my existing flows, my subscriber list, my sending history?

Nobody wants to rebuild months of work from scratch, or worse, have subscribers notice something broke in the process.

Pulse's migration process is built specifically around avoiding both of those problems.

The four stages of switching

Kickoff

This is where things start. Rather than jumping straight into rebuilding, the first step is an audit, going through your existing setup, mapping out your current flows, segments, and lists, and building a plan together before anything gets touched.

This matters because every existing setup is a little different, and a plan built around your specific situation avoids surprises later.

Build & Migrate

This is where your actual flows get rebuilt. Your email flows, WhatsApp automations, and push triggers are recreated on Pulse based on the plan from Kickoff.

The goal here isn't just to copy things over mechanically, it's to rebuild them properly on Pulse's system so they work the way they're supposed to.

Test & Validate

Before anything goes live, every automation and segment gets verified.

This is the stage where mistakes get caught before they ever reach a real customer, rather than after.

Go live

Once everything's tested, you switch over.

Done properly, your subscribers never notice anything changed, they just keep receiving the same kinds of messages, only now they're running through Pulse.

What actually gets migrated

At a high level, migration typically covers:

  • Your existing automation flows, recreated to match how they worked on your previous platform.
  • Your segments and audience lists.
  • Your subscriber/contact list. See the companion article, "Importing your existing contacts", for exactly how this part works.

What you should prepare beforehand

Switching goes faster and smoother if you have a few things ready ahead of time:

  • Access to export your contact list from your current platform, usually as a CSV file.
  • A general sense of which flows or automations matter most to you, so those can be prioritized first.
  • Your sender domain and sender email details, since these will need to be verified again on Pulse as part of setup.

A realistic expectation to set

Migration isn't usually instant, and that's intentional.

Rushing through the Test & Validate stage is how mistakes slip through to real customers.

Taking the time to verify everything before Go Live is what makes the switch invisible to your subscribers instead of disruptive.

If you're mid-switch and something feels unclear

You don't have to navigate this alone.

Reach out through the chat widget inside Pulse at any point during the process, whether you're still in the Kickoff stage or already testing, and the support team can help you through it.
