The Templates page, overview

Learn how to create, organize, search, reuse, and manage Email, Push, and WhatsApp templates in Pulse.

April 20, 2026

Rather than building every email, push notification, or WhatsApp message completely from scratch each time, Pulse gives you a dedicated Templates page, a single place to create, organize, and reuse layouts across your channels.

Where to find it

Click Templates in your sidebar. The subtitle explains it plainly: "Create, organize and reuse Email, Push and WhatsApp templates."

Three buttons in the top-right corner give you your main starting points:

  • Import HTML — bring in a template you already have coded
  • Browse Starter Templates — choose from ready-made layouts
  • + New Template — a dropdown for building one from scratch

Understanding your four stat cards

The Templates page gives you four quick stats to understand the state of your template library:

  • Total Templates — how many templates exist across your workspace
  • Active — templates currently ready to use
  • Archived — templates you've put aside without deleting
  • Favorites — templates you've starred for quick access

Switching between channels

Just below the search bar, tabs let you filter by channel: Email, Push, and WhatsApp.

Selecting one shows only templates built for that channel, since an email layout and a push notification work very differently.

Searching and filtering

The search bar lets you look up a template by name, subject, description, tags or variables. This is useful once you have a lot of templates and remember a detail about one but not its exact name.

Additional dropdowns let you filter by category, status such as Active, tags, and owner such as Anyone. You can also sort templates by Recently Updated.

Starter Templates

This section, labeled "Ready-to-use layouts curated by our team," always shows a set of professionally built templates you can use immediately, marked with an "Always available" badge.

Each starter template card shows a small preview, a title, a short description, relevant tags such as "Official starter" and its category, and a Use Template button.

The starter templates you'll typically find include:

  • Welcome Email — first-touch onboarding with one clear call to action
  • Promotional Offer Email — an offer-focused campaign with product recommendations
  • Newsletter Email — an editorial-style digest with columns
  • Product Launch Email — a product update announcement highlighting features
  • Re-engagement — for win-back style campaigns

My Templates

Below the starter templates, My Templates is where anything you've personally built or customized lives.

Until you've created something of your own, you'll see "0 reusable assets in this view" and an empty state, "No templates found," with buttons to Create Template, Import HTML, or Browse Starter Templates to get going.

The Categories sidebar

On the right, a Categories panel breaks your templates down by type:

  • Welcome
  • Newsletter
  • Promotion
  • Transactional
  • Abandoned Cart
  • Winback
  • Product Launch
  • Seasonal
  • Custom

Each category has its own count, making it easy to jump straight to a specific group instead of scrolling through everything.

Template Health

The Template Health panel gives you a quick status check across your whole template library:

  • Ready to Use — templates in good shape
  • Needs Review — templates that may need a second look
  • Missing Variables — templates referencing a piece of dynamic data that isn't properly set up
  • Archived — templates that have been put aside
  • Broken — templates with an actual issue preventing them from working correctly

Checking this panel occasionally is a good habit. Catching a "Broken" or "Missing Variables" template here is much better than discovering the problem after a campaign has already gone out using it.

A note on channels

The real Templates screen also shows an SMS tab alongside Email, Push, and WhatsApp.

At the time of writing, Pulse's documented channels are Email, Push, and WhatsApp, so this article covers those three. If SMS becomes part of your workspace's active channels, its templates would work the same way described here.
