Creating and managing campaigns
Learn where campaigns live, how to create them, and how to manage your Email, Push, and WhatsApp campaigns in Pulse.
April 20, 2026
A campaign is a message you build and send yourself, across Email, Push, or WhatsApp, different from an automation, which runs continuously in the background based on customer behavior. This article covers where campaigns live, how to start one, and how to manage them once they exist.
Where to find it
Click Campaigns in your sidebar. The subtitle sums it up clearly: "Create, manage and monitor multi-channel marketing campaigns."
Unlike checking each channel separately, this page brings your Email, Push, and WhatsApp campaigns together into a single, unified view, so you never have to jump between three different tools just to see everything you've sent.
Starting a new campaign
Click + Create campaign in the top-right corner. This is your starting point for building a message on whichever channel you choose, Email, Push, or WhatsApp, all from the same button, rather than needing a separate "create" flow for each channel.
From here, you'll typically choose your channel, pick a starting template (see the Email Templates & Design article for how this works on Email specifically), define your audience (often a segment, see "Building a segment" for how these work), and either send immediately or schedule it for later.
Getting started with your first campaign
If you haven't created anything yet, the page won't just show an empty table, you'll see a friendly prompt instead: "Create your first campaign," with the explanation "Build an Email, Push, or WhatsApp campaign and monitor its performance here," and a Create campaign button right there so the next step is obvious.
Searching and filtering your campaigns
Once you've got some campaign history, a search bar lets you look up a specific one by name, ID, segment, channel, or template, far faster than scrolling through a growing list.
Next to it, two dropdowns help you narrow things down: All channels (filter to just Email, Push, or WhatsApp) and Recently updated (change your sort order).
A Filters button offers further, more specific refinement beyond these two.
Understanding campaign statuses
Below the stat cards, nine tabs organize your campaigns by exactly where they stand:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| All | Every campaign, regardless of status |
| Running | Actively sending right now |
| Scheduled | Queued to send at a future date or time |
| Draft | Started but not yet finished or sent |
| Paused | Temporarily stopped without being cancelled |
| Completed | Finished sending successfully |
| Failed | Didn't send successfully, worth investigating |
| Cancelled | Stopped and won't resume |
| Archived | Older campaigns kept for reference, out of your active view |
Paused is worth calling out specifically. It lets you temporarily halt a running campaign, for example if you spot an issue partway through a send, without losing your progress or having to cancel and rebuild it from scratch.
Failed gives problems their own dedicated space too, rather than burying failed sends somewhere inside a general list where they're easy to miss.
A practical approach to managing a growing campaign list
As your campaign history grows, get in the habit of using the status tabs deliberately rather than always browsing "All."
Checking Failed periodically catches problems early, checking Draft prevents half-finished campaigns from being forgotten entirely, and using the channel filter before building a new campaign helps you quickly see what's already been sent on that specific channel recently, so you're not accidentally repeating yourself too soon.
